In certi casi può essere necessario identificare i codec necessari per riprodurre/editare un file video e ottenere il maggior numero di informazioni necessarie. Per Windows esiste una nota utility free chiamata GSpot in grado di provvedere a questo compito.
Per Ubuntu esistono invece delle utility equivalenti che consentono di ricavare praticamente le stesse informazioni ottenibili con Gspot oltre a fornire alcune funzionalità aggiuntive. Nel precedente post abbiamo parlato dell’interfaccia grafica AVInaptic2. Ma è possibile ottenere le stesse informazioni tramite terminale utilizzando l’utility Mediainfo. Fra le tante informazioni che è in grado di fornire ci sono: codec audio, codec video, frequenza di campionamento, risoluzione video, framerate, bitrate, rapporto d’aspetto e tantissime altre informazioni.
Per installare mediainfo basta eseguire i seguenti comandi in successione:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mediainfo
Per analizzare un video basta eseguire:
mediainfo nomefile_video.avi
